Our inboard team are there to ensure you have the cruise of a lifetime. They are passionate about the Kimberley region and want to share this amazing place with you. All of our crew are fully trained and have qualifications in the marine industry. Each crew member is multi-skilled with many qualifications in many.
Throughout your Kimberley cruise experience you will receive personalised and attentive service of the highest standard from our exceptional crew. Kimberley Expeditions has hand picked every staff member individually based on their engaging and caring service, their exceptional skills and their commitment in providing the best possible experience.
Depending on weather and tides and the best guest experience, the crew work closely together to determine our daily program. Your cruise director will lead all on shore activities and answer any queries you may have, they are also in charge of the fabulous night entertainment which includes a trivia night, joke night and party night.
Your skipper and ship’s master Jay, has over 30 years’ experience navigating the Kimberley Coastline as well as northern Australia and Papua New Guinea, a keen fisherman, he knows the tides like Poseidon himself. He prides himself on safety, and welcomes everyone at the wheelhouse at anytime to sit beside him in the second captains chair and experience the thrill of captaining a vessel such as Reef Prince.
Brooke’s local indigenous heritage ensures that guests receive a poignant and real understanding of Aboriginal Culture that permeates the Kimberley Region. He will amaze and inspire you when you hear him play the didgeridoo in ancient caves full of art or on a secluded beach at sunset.
Andreas is our ship’s engineer, originally born in Sicily, who after a lifetime at sea, we often wonder if he actually has salt water running through his veins. He is a Master of Engineering who, 24hrs a day, makes sure that the Reef Prince always runs at full capacity. When he is not busy in the Engine room, or in the hull of the ship, he is captaining the smaller tender Regent; looking out for schools of bait fish to catch with a skillful net cast.
Everyone agrees that our chef Jayden is probably the hardest working man on the Reef Prince. Originally from the East Coast of Australia, Jayden prides himself on using the freshest ingredients possible, particularly what guests catch or gather during the day. He is famous for his scones, jam and cream. Multiskilled, as are all of our crew, you will sometimes see Jayden when he’s not in the kitchen manning the ropes and assisting in shore adventures. If you have dietary concerns, don’t fear your culinary experience will be as fine as other guests.
FERN and TARA
Our beautiful and remarkably multi-talented stewardesses will melt your hearts. These lovely ladies are there to ensure that you have the perfect Kimberley Cruise. Each of them have had long term experience on Reef Prince and are more like sisters than work colleagues. Together they will personally make you a part of the Reef Prince family. Their day starts at dawn ensuring a hearty breakfast service and to greet you with a smile. Throughout the day they look after the maintenance and cleanliness of the Reef Prince, accompany and assist guests during shore excursions, bartend and waitress. In the evenings they often take shifts in the wheel house during over-night steaming to allow the captain to take a well-earned rest. If you need anything – just ask.

We pride ourselves on our crews safety training – the crew receive regular training ashore, before embarkation and on board. The comprehensive on-board training coordinated by the vessels’ Master consists of :
- Lifesaving on board the vessel
- First Aid – Defib and Remote rescue
- Security Awareness
- Crowd management
During your cruise you may take part or witness our crew in training. This is a necessary part of remote cruising and helps our crew to hone their skills and be prepared in the event of an emergency.
